CLICK THE ROTATING CUBE TO FREEZE AND EXPAND PHOTO .Place to stay for this weekends dig: September 30 ASK FOR THE GROUP RATE , MENTION MY ROCK DIG : Latimer Inn , Your Hosts: David and Rhonda McDougall 1378 Scenic Hwy. 81 North, Calhoun Falls, SC 29628 Phone: (864) 391-2747 . I have made arrangements to open the Cunningham prospect as a pay to dig site . This site is located in the Community of LEVEL LAND , South Carolina and is in between Due West and Antreville , South Carolina . There will be a machine dig there this Saturday and the price will be $60 . Since this is a last minute late breaking arrangement , a crowd is not expected , there will most likely be only 15 people . I will be using my 16,000 pound 4 wheel drive turbo powered backhoe to open the vein from one in to the other on the Cunningham property . No one will be allowed in the exact area I am working , but the discharged tailings piles will be fair game and I will keep moving the machine along and folks can access the newly exposed vein after I move . By the end of the day , the whole length of the vein will be fair game save for a small area that I will reserve to work . There is also a good smoky quartz area . This is good skeletal mud included smoky quartz with some amethyst areas . These are extremely good , and I will open the hole and let folks dig as they wish after I move the machine to the beryl area . The rotating cube above shows material from the property . You can double click on the cube to freeze and expand the pictures . As you can see , there is facet grade aquamarine as well as green beryl , smoky quartz , and quartz with VISIBLE GOLD ! Stay tuned for more details or call me at 404-975-8005 . I will be having a machine dig at Jackson's Crossroads on October 7 & 8th . Prices for this event : The next machine dig at Jackson's Crossroads will be October 6 , 7 , 8 . The name for this dig is The Crystal Gathering Frenzy Dig ( CGF ) . Special pricing ..... Friday~ the precursor : $25 SATURDAY ~ the main event ! : $100 Sunday ~ the denouemont : $50. October 20 I plan on having a machine dig at the Hogg mine. I rarely run machinery there and you do not want to miss it .
Email from a visitor to jxr : I am writing to let you know how my day of collecting at JXR went on Tuesday August 22nd. I guess the only thing to say is it was great. Mr. John Carter was very nice in pointing things out to me. He represented you very well. ( John thank you for your help) In no time at all I found several pieces of facet grade amethyst. Not big. about the size of your thumb. Then I did find one big point about the size of a peach that was dark purple and of facet grade. This will hold a place on honor in my collection. The other pieces will be cut. I really can not tell you how great it was. I also found 3 small scepters. One milky white, one a faint purple and the other was of facet grade but had some of the stem broken off. You are right that if you can not find anything there your not working very hard. I wish I could go right now but the trip from New Jersey would take just a little to long for a day trip. I hope to make it back there soon though. I will send you some pictures I took while there and of the amethyst I found once I take some pictures after they are cleaned up. Again it was a great time and thank you for all your efforts to make collecting there easier for the rest of us and I will recommend your web site and place to anyone who asks.Peter Hornish
I have added a lot of new stuff in my ebay store . I have put new material up in my ebay store at the link below. This is the specimen that was dug Friday in the " New York Swindler- ( J.A.F. ) " pocket . This specimen was delivered today to a well known Tenessee collector for an undisclosed but substantial price. Dixie Euhedrals , that power house of wild Southern rock , is pleased to present the following image of the specimen for your viewing pleasure. The next machine dig at Jackson's Crossroads will be October 6 , 7 , 8 . The name for this dig is The Crystal Gathering Frenzy Dig ( CGF ) . Special pricing ..... Friday~ the precursor : $25 SATURDAY ~ the main event ! : $100 Sunday ~ the denouemont : $50 I sell items from my gem mines on ebay. Lots of times I start good items at only $1 . Sometines a lot of folks bid and the price goes up. I'm real happy when that happens ! But sometimes , some sly ebayer will hang in the shadows , their face eerily lit by their flickering computer screen. And at the last minute , enter a bid for a buck or two . AND WIN ! Needless to say , I am less than happy when that happens , but I am learning to live with it. I am beseeching you to visit my ebay store . Home of hot deals ! Field trip report on the last dig , C& T dig ,

Look for an overhaul of this page soon, with some interesting pictures as usual. New ! New Matrix pieces for sale ! Inquiries welcome . I have just gotten some material in that has been cleaned from the Cash & Treasures dig. I am pleased to announce that I have some very unusual matrix peices for sale. Sorry , no pictures to be posted here publicly . I will unveil these on the opening day of the Denver show , and will post pictures as they sell provided that the new owners do not mind. I have added some new items on ebay , including another big crystal and two big pieces of facet rough and these start out at only one lousy dollar ! CLICK HERE to check out the new Jackson's crossroads amethyst crystals for sale on ebay . Everyone that is going to rent a room for the Sept. 23/24 dig or the Oct. 7/8 dig should consider staying with us on the square in downtown washington at the Fitzpatrick Hotel . This is a very nice hotel that has a free breakfast , and this is a " real " homecooked breakfast .call 706-678-5900 and for reservations , click here for the fitzpatrick hotel website which is located on the square in downtown Washington , Georgia. Mention Rodney Moore amethyst group to get discount. I went to JXR toay and dug some amethyst . I am amazed at how rich the deposit is ! Amethyst crystal just loaded in the rock . i have moved a good bit of the tailings around. With the hurricane downgraded to a tropical depressions , and it's remnants soon to send bands of rain over JXR for the next three days , each day should reveal more crystals . To book your trip just give me a call , it's quick and easy : 404-975-8005. CLICK HERE to view the report. I have gotten one of the clusters from last weekends dig. It is very similar to the Royal Crown. It is a very significant discovery and I am not going to display pictures of it here. This is because the high end collectors prefer to buy specimens that have not been advertised by picture. The exception being specimens have been published in major magazines. Anyone interested in purchasing a major specimen should inquire by emailing me from the contact page. I have other specimens that will be back from being cleaned. For low end specimend , click on the ebay link below. otherwise email me with your price requirements. I am pleased to add this testimonial from Russ Fulwiler ( two lower photographs by Russ fulwiler . Color appears to be off on the cluster ) :Rodney, Sorry it took so long for me to contact you but work was hectic due to my shuffling my schedule to visit JXR, I sure am glad I did. I once again would like to thank you for an extraordinary mineral collecting adventure! The attached photos are of the large "Noon Break" cluster, a smaller cluster and single crystals taken from various angles and under different lighting conditions. I hope the photos work out as I am not used to photographing minerals. I had to leave the balance of the pocket contents with my cousin in GA until return this fall. There was no way I was trusting them to the airline ride. It's really making me crazy wondering what else came out of the pocket. Steve and Sandi were wrapping everything and I took no time to look at any of the pocket contents while recovering what I could in the time allowed. I really have no ideal what other crystals I have other then, when wrapped, they filled a 5 gallon bucket (not including the large solo crystal on matrix). As Thanks for Sandi's help I gave her two crystals and I will send Steve a cheese care package. Ronin helped as well and I actually let him recover his own sample from the pocket while I was working it. I don't know what Ronin and Sandi ended up with but I think it was very nice. I know the great care you take to make sure everyone has a good time while digging and I want to thank you again for the time in the pit, I am very aware you don't have to do that. It's one of the things that make collecting at JXR so very special. One of the other very nice things is the people out there. I've never had so may strangers so concerned for my welfare thinking that I might get sunstroke, it really is a great group. About the pocket, I took two scrapes of my pick and knocked loose a small piece of rock. This revealed a 6" circular hole with 3 purple "fangs" hanging down. You can double check with Steve but I think my words where "xxxdeleted Mother Lode" and I asked Steve to come over and have a look. I started pulling individual crystals and then plates (3 that I know of)from the top of the pocket which was clear of clay until about 8" down. Reed was very helpful as well. With your permission I may try and write an article for one of the rock mags about finding a pocket at JXR. Let me know. I'll check your website to see if you post any of the pictures. Thank you for taking the time to invite me down to the C&T dig. I sure found my share of treasure!Sincerely,Russ P. Fulwiler I have added lots of stuff on ebay ,some things starting as low as one dollar. Click the ebay link beside the picture of facet rough below.. I will be having the next machine dig in OCTOBER. The rotating matrix cube at the top of this page has a special feature , just click on a picture to freeze and expand it. The lower slide show ( directly above this text ) works good if you click to check the "AUTO" box. The video player at the bottom of this page can be stopped or you can adjust the volume. Help me propagate this page across the web : If you like this website , please send a link to a friend today. Lastly , I sell Jackson's crossroads amethyst crystals and facet rough on ebay as well as a whole bunch of other stuff. CLICK HERE to see my ebay items . I know a lot of y'all have been wanting to come partake of the super luscious ( and ultra gemmy ) Jackson's Crossroads amethyst. Collecting conditions are very good at the current time. As a matter of a fact , even small kids do well. If you visit and can't find anything , you are severely afflicted............you had just better switch hobbies and take up stamp collecting. Call me at 404-975-8005 and we will work out the details. Another cool place to collect amethyst is in Hallelujah Junction on Peterson Moutain on the California / Nevada border. Click here to read a very interesting report on a recent collecting trip. Be sure to look at all three pages as the better pictures are towards the end. I know Foster Hallman that owns the adjacent claim , and will make a trip out there sooner or later if I can work it out. Anyone that is interested in going , email me. I have gotten lots of pix from Don Aldridge , Chris painter , and Jorie Billingsly and the following pictures were provided courtesy of them . These pictures show what was found during the last machine dig. Incidentally , a film crew was there filming for a dedicated episode of " America's Best Places to find Cash & Treasures" which is a series that is running on the Travel channel . The JXR amethyst episode will be a 30 minute show with 22 minutes of footage from the mine. It is scheduled to air beginning january 09 , 2007 , but there is a good chance that it will air as early as this October. Finding gemmy facet grade amethyst at jxr really is childs play , as Bailey Painter shows : Not only did he find a great piece of facet grade , on the second day he found a boulder coated with clay , and one crystal sticking out. When this was cleaned off , here is the cluster that was found. I am not making this up , he had fifty witnesses ! Bailey is the son of Chris and Rachel Painter . His daddy said that Saturday night at the hotel Bailey went to sleep with his arms around the cluster ! Jorie found a killer cluster in the tailings pilesMore pictures to follow . As some of you may have heard, when I quit for lunch I let everyone in the hole. Russ Fulwiler immediately hit a big pocket . Rushing against the dead line to finish before my one hour lunch period , Russ worked tirelessly in the high noon sun. Down in the hole like that there is no shade .........and no wind ! With not even the slightest amount of air movement in the hole , it gets extremely hot ! The diggers were concerned and ran to bring him gatorade , and someone went and got an umbrella to shade him with. I hope Russ will send some good clear pictures so that I can add them to this page.THIS JUST IN , Don sends a picture of Russ Fulwiler & and the big cluster. Note : it still is covered with pocket clay .
